My name is Jeni Winterburn. I’m 60 years old so don’t expect power yoga or hot yoga. My yoga style has evolved over almost 25 years of teaching and working closely with people I respect in the yoga world.
For three of those years I was honored to assist Judith Lasater occasionally as she taught around the country and in England. I even stepped in for her at a Yoga Journal conference when she was unable to attend at the last minute. It was quite the experience to walk in her shoes for a few days and I am forever grateful for the opportunities that she gave me.
It was a dream of mine to have my own space and I opened Yoga Nook in 2003. Over the last 16 years my staff and I populated three locations around Simi Valley, California - the last of which was Yoga Nook on Cochran Street. Together we organized three Yoga conferences in Simi, graduated over 100 yoga teachers with our own yoga teacher training program and served a healthy yoga community.
After the onset of the Pandemic in 2020, Yoga Nook closed and I reinvented my yoga style by opening a virtual studio called Yoga Takeout. This meant I could continue to provide a much-needed service to the yoga community by teaching online.
Influenced by teachers like Judith Lasater, Kim Schwartz and Gil Hedley, my teaching is strongly anatomical with a somatic edge. I offer alternatives along the way which may allow you to spice things up or cool things down depending on your ability.
I am committed to providing two new video classes per month and if you would like to be informed about new video offerings and articles of interest, then sign up for my blog so you can keep in touch.
This is a new and exciting phase for my yoga journey, I hope you come along for the ride.
